Liposuction can be used to treat excess fat pads in the following areas:
- Chin
- Back
- Ass
- Breasts
- Adrenal gland
- Knees
- Shoulders
- Tummy
- Calves
- Thighs
- Hips
Process of the operation
The procedure is performed in the supine position under local or general anesthesia, lasting from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours (depending on the extent). The procedure is called tumescent because the suction area is first infiltrated with a special solution that reduces pain after the procedure, constricts the blood vessels (less bleeding) and makes the fat cells more fragile. The infiltration and liposuction cannulas, with which the procedure is performed, are inserted into the subcutaneous tissue through a few millimeters of holes in the skin at the edge of the target areas. If necessary, suction drains can also be inserted to prevent the formation of postoperative hematomas.
Postoperative Regime
The procedure requires 1 night in the clinic and an escort upon departure if the procedure is performed under general anesthesia. For liposuction procedures under local anesthesia, the patient goes home on the day of the operation. After the operation, it is necessary to be physically gentle and wear a compression garment for at least 6 weeks, 24 hours a day, in order to minimize the risk of possible complications. Check-ups are after the first, second and sixth weeks after the operation. Swelling and absorption of hematomas can persist for up to 3 months and the effect is only visible after this time. The suctioned areas must be massaged with pressure 2 weeks after the operation until they are completely softened, which usually takes about a month.
